“The safest general characterization of the European philosophical tradition is that it consists of a series of footnotes to Plato.”

An excuse to avoid risk; to think about action without the courage to act. And yet whenever I am blissfully oblivious to experience in general, there still seems to be a reserve for that kind of reflection I know all to well. Then, I realize that doing philosophy is the riskiest part of life. That which compels me to understand is important to me. I guess I do philosophy because I “care” (as Heidegger would say). I don’t know if that was a direct answer to the question. “What is Philosophy?” A who.

What do you think?
