Infinite Weird Podcast: The Many Become One and Are Increased By One

Had a great time chatting with Matthew Sherling yesterday about my own journey, how I got into Whitehead’s work, and what his basic categories of concrescence and prehension mean.

I will watch this one Matt. I can’t keep up with all of your postings. Perhaps this will give me a sense of your journey.

Karie Crisp has been in touch with me. I believe she has audited some of your classes. Whenever I have the opportunity I try to get CIIS students to take your class on Whitehead.

    All is well here.

I’m personally unsettled on the state of the process community. IPN is mostly inactive. Any thoughts on the process community of scholars?

      Hi Herman,
Glad to hear you’ve connected with Karie! I can understand your worries about IPN. Not sure how to revive it… I’ve been doing a lot with the Cobb Institute, and CPS just hosted a wonderful conference up in Salem on astrobiology, etc. So things are still happening. -Matt

    Dear Matt,
I would like to invite you to see that during your experience at the Yad Vashem you did find the ‘answer’ to your query about the nature of evil (19:47). That which you were seeking to understand is in the ‘negative space’ of the experience, perhaps you sense it that way as well. I heard your story this way: That day, you had a deep experience of the preciousness of becoming and ‘evil’ is in the absence. It is the distraction and an illusion of disconnection from the great becoming that we are all participating in. Only when we are caught up in that distraction and illusion can we cause harm to one another. I believe that connection, when crafted beautifully, can then be a remedy, a push back, and an immunity to violation and harm. Thanks for sharing your story.

What do you think?
